Florence Pugh spoke out against the response of the body and the sexualization of women.

Florence Pugh has passionately addressed the ongoing backlash she faces for baring her skin with fellow actor Jodie Turner-Smith for of Elle magazine awards for style, whether in movies or on the red carpet.

More than a year ago, Pugh made headlines in a see-through dress at a Valentino fashion show in Rome that sparked intense online discussion about her body.

At the time, Pugh took to Instagram to condemn the “vulgar” trolls who sought to shame and criticize her.

She firmly stated her refusal to let such negativity define her, saying: “I don’t try to hide the cellulite on my thigh or the sprouting between my arm and my breast: I’d rather put it all on display.”

Pugh went on to express her frustration at the instances where people picked on her for revealing what they felt was “too much” of herself.

She specifically mentioned the controversy surrounding the pink Valentino dress from a year ago, when her nipples were barely visible through the fabric.

This seemingly insignificant detail has caused considerable controversy and comment.

Pew noted, “Men fear liberty; from the fact that I feel comfortable and happy.”

She highlighted the idea that society has long held women down by commenting on their bodies.

However, she sees a shift happening as more people assert their autonomy and reject such body surveillance.
