UPDATE at 7:30 p.m.:

A North Carolina man has been arrested after a man was found dead in Sydney on Wednesday morning.

Around 11:20 a.m., Sidney dispatchers received a call about a man in a parking lot on the 1600 block of Ferguson Court.

When officers arrived, they found the man had died from a gunshot wound, according to Sidney Police.

The man found dead has been identified as Tyler Welsh, 32, of Eaton.

Lashawn Dean Hughes, 48, of North Carolina, was arrested after fleeing the scene in his semi-truck.

He is currently on remand for murder at the Shelby County Jail.

While the case is still under investigation, police believe the dispute between the two men likely stemmed from an incident of road violence.

Both men were articulated lorry drivers for different companies.

Police added that Angstrom, where Welsh’s body was found, appeared to be a random spot where the men stopped. Neither were drivers for the company.
